During construction of Bukit Timah First Diversion Canal, excavation was around 40m width and 11m depth. The edge of the excavation to 38 & 44 Holland Green were approximately 8.7m & 6m respectively. The houses were on higher ground compared to the insured’s worksite. The properties 38 and 44 Holland Green were damaged with cracks on the boundary walls, settlement in the front and back yard, pipe leakage, etc.
Brown was appointed by the loss adjuster to summarize the cause of the alleged damage to the properties, provide professional advice on reasonableness of the precautionary measures. In addition, Brown's opinions regarding the extent of damage due to the insured’s works as well as repairs to the third party properties were required.
